Maria Ilvanidou is a digital humanities specialist with over 20 years of experience in the intersection of archaeology, cultural heritage, and technology. She is a Scientific Associate at the Digital Curation Unit, IMSI, Athena Research Centre, and at the Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), where she is also an instructor in the MSc in Digital Methods for the Humanities and Social Sciences. Maria co-heads the DARIAH-EU Virtual Competency Centre on Research and Education (VCC2) and is an associate of the UNESCO Chair on Digital Methods for the Humanities and Social Sciences (AUEB). She contributes to EU projects including ATRIUM, ARTEMIS, ECHOES, TRANS-lighthouses, and 4CH, and has served as project manager for the APOLLONIS research infrastructure and the Digital Landscape project, on behalf of DCU. She has collaborated with major cultural and research institutions in Greece, including the Ministry of Culture, the National Hellenic Research Foundation, the Academy of Athens, the University of Crete, and the Foundation for Research and Technology–Hellas (FORTH). Her research focuses on digital research infrastructures, digital history, digital archaeology, GIS, spatial humanities, heritage management, and communication.
